ROSEMARY:

WHAT: Is an herb listed by the FDA as a Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS),  natural seasoning or flavoring. Its components have anti-oxidation properties.

HOW: There are number of ways rosemary extract is prepared from the dried leaves. Low temperature distilation, followed by some form of deodorizing and/or decolorization will create a product that is than mixed with the fat or with the flavoring (palatant),  that is spray coated on the kibble.

WHY: It is added in small amounts to help prevent oxidation and rancidity of the fats in food and to reduce the amount of other types of anti-oxidants.

WHERE: Rosemary is originally from areas around the Mediterranean and is now grown and harvested worldwide.
